Merge PDF files into one

🔒 Your files never leave your device

Add your PDFs, put them in the right order, and download a single combined file.

or drop them here — you can select several at once

This order is the order they will be merged in. You need at least two files.

Merging keeps the content of every page, but bookmarks (outlines) and form fields are not carried over. That is a limitation of copying page by page: outlines hang off the document catalogue and form fields off the AcroForm, and neither belongs to a page. If your PDF has a form you need to keep, do not merge it here.

What survives the merge, and what does not

This is the part most merge tools do not tell you, so it is worth being direct about it.

Page content is preserved exactly. Text remains selectable and searchable, vector graphics stay vector, embedded fonts travel with their pages, and nothing is flattened into an image. Page dimensions and rotation are kept, so mixing A4 and Letter documents produces a PDF where each page keeps its own size.

Bookmarks and form fields do not survive. A merge works by copying pages from each source into a new document, and neither of these belongs to a page. Bookmarks hang off the document catalogue; form fields live in a structure called the AcroForm that sits alongside the pages. Copying pages cannot bring them along.

Rather than let you discover that later, the tool inspects each file and tells you explicitly when a source had bookmarks or form fields. If you are merging fillable forms that people still need to fill in, use a desktop PDF editor instead.

Order matters more than you think

Files are added in whatever order the file picker hands them over, which is often alphabetical rather than the order you clicked. "Scan 10" sorts before "Scan 2" in most pickers. Check the numbered list and use the arrows before merging.

    Password-protected files

Encrypted PDFs are detected automatically and a password box appears next to that specific file. You can mix protected and unprotected files in the same merge — only the ones that need a password will ask for one. The merged output is not encrypted.

Passwords never leave the page. There is no server involved in any part of this, which is also why the tool keeps working if you lose your connection after loading the page.

    Questions

How many files can I merge?

There is no fixed limit — everything is held in your device's memory, so very large scanned documents are the practical constraint rather than the number of files.

Will the merged file be smaller than the sum of the parts?

Slightly, usually. Shared resources are written once per document rather than per file, but this is not a compression tool and image data is copied as-is.

Can I merge a PDF with images?

Not directly here — convert the images to a PDF first withImages to PDF, then merge the result.
